Health Services

"You can't educate a child who isn't healthy, and you can't keep a child healthy who isn't educated."
Dr. M. Jocelyn Elders

Welcome to the

Paris High School

Nurse's Office

I will be on duty as your child's nurse this school year. During this time your child will be sent to me in case of illness or accident. It is my desire to provide the safest and healthiest environment for your child while he is at school. My goal, with your help, is to support and educate students with health concerns while minimizing lost class time.

For the protection of all students, the following rules have been set up and will be followed at all times. A child will be sent home with:

1. Fever of 100 degrees or more
2. Suspected contagious disease
3. Vomiting
4. Diarrhea
5. Severe or continuous complaints of pain

If your child has any of the above symptoms in the morning before coming to school, please keep him/her at home.

Parents are encouraged to schedule the administration of a student's medication in such a manner that medication required at school is kept at a minimum. If it is necessary for your child to receive medication during the school day, you must pick up a form in my office which must be completed before the medication can be given. You may also download this form. All medication should be delivered to the clinic or to the school office by an adult. If this is not possible, and the medication is sent to school via the child, the parents must remember that they are responsible for the medication until the medication is delivered to a school district employee in the office. With the exception of students having asthma, diabetes, or severe allergies, there will be no medications kept in the classroom nor should the students be in possession of any medications at any time. Please refer to the PHS Student Handbook for additional information.  If there are special circumstances, feel free to contact me.

I welcome you to visit my office at any time and discuss any or all health care needs of your child. The better informed I am, the better care I can give your child.

Thank you,
Kay L. Grubb, RN, BSN, LP
