Graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia. (On the Chesapeake Bay!)
My favorite class was biology, quickly followed by Latin.
BS Biology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Emphasis in Microbiology
MS Food Science & Technology, also from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Emphasis in Food Microbiology. My graduate research and thesis was concerned with shelf life extension of oysters. Food Science covers everything that happens to food between the farm and the fork. There are many science applications--biology, physics, and chemistry--and you sometimes get to eat the results of your lab work!
You may recognize Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as Virginia Tech--home of the Hokies!
This year my husband and I will be celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary.
We have two sons (Ralph and George) who were graduates of North Lamar and are now attending Texas A&M in College Station. They were both in the band--playing Tuba and Trombone. George continued to play Tuba (or bass as they call it at A&M) in the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.
I have two dogs--Odie and Buster--who came to us from the animal shelter. They are my constant companions when I am home. I am sure you will hear more about them in class! They are highly entertaining.
I enjoy reading, cooking and indoor gardening.. My husband and I also like to visit estate sales and antique stores.
