Financial Aid Meeting

dollar signsParents of graduates from the Class of 2018 should plan to attend an informative college financial aid meeting on Monday, Nov. 6, 5:30 p.m., in the library.  Representatives from Paris JC will be on hand to offer tips for preparing for post-graduation, and the PHS counselors office will help fill out FAFSA forms for parents who bring their 2016 tax information with them.

UIL Checkpoint

The first nine weeks grading period ends Friday, Oct. 20, and academic progress reports will be distributed the following week.  These reports determine UIL eligibility (no pass, no play).  Tutorials are available each morning, 8:05-8:30 a.m.

Thursday Night School

Students who have excessive absences should plan to attend Thursday Night School to make up those absences.  Download dates and further details.

PISD's Notification System

Paris ISD uses School Messenger to provide timely communications. If you have a child attending PISD, you are automatically in the database and will receive phone notifications. To enhance our ability to accurately deliver information on activities and emergencies, we kindly request that you create your own contact preference profile.

High school students face many daily challenges both inside and outside the classroom.  The faculty and staff of Paris High provide many services to help students navigate those challenges.  In particular, the Counseling Department offers an array of academic and personal counseling assistance to help students make informed decisions about college and careers.

Applications for most of the scholarship listings on this page can be picked up in the PHS Counseling Department; however, for some listings, students may be required to apply online.  Look for specific scholarships with the nearest application deadlines to be listed first in order.

  • Texas High School Aerospace Scholars Program (Deadline:  Oct. 15)
    • Includes interactive online course over space exploration and week-long, expense-paid trip to NASA's Johnson Space Center summer of 2018.
    • Students receive guidance from NASA engineers and scientists complete hands-on engineering design challenges to plan mission to Mars

  • Horatio Alger Association (Deadline: Oct. 25)
    • Must show $55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income
    • Minimum 2.0 GPA and involved in co-curricular and community service activities

  • Lamar County Chamber of Commerce (Deadline:  Nov. 15)
    • Priority given to students pursuing career in agriculture or participating in FFA
    • Criteria: Grades 50%, financial need 25%, community service 25%
    • $1,000 scholarship
  • Elks National Foundation (Deadline: Nov. 27)
    • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
    • Male and female students compete separately.

  • Lamar Soil & Water District Essay (Deadline: Dec. 15)
    • Maximum 500 words on topic “Healthy Soils are Full of Life”
    • First place $125, second place $75
  • Texas Student Housing (Deadline: Jan. 31)
    • For students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station or Denton who have NOT signed off-campus housing leases.
    • Scholarships awarded for full or partial cost of off-campus room for one academic year at Town Lake in Austin, the Ridge at North Texas, and the Cambridge in College Station

Registration Notice

Students new to Paris ISD may register for the 2017-18 school year beginning Monday, Aug. 7).    Students will need to bring the following:

  1. Parent or legal guardian
  2. Proof of residency
  3. Social Security card
  4. Birth Certificate
  5. Shot record
  6. Withdrawal paper
  7. Last report card or transcript (if previously in high school)
