Brief description:This course requires students to conduct environmentally appropriate and ethical field and laboratory investigations and make informed decisions using scientific inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. Concept strands include the following topics: Metabolic Processes and Energy Transfers; Homeostasis; Living Systems within Living Systems; Cells as the Basic Structures of Life; Properties and Functions of Viruses; Growth and Development of Cells, Tissues, and Organs; Interdependence and Interaction of Ecosystems; Plants in the Environment; Nucleic Acids and Genetics; Biological Evolution; and Applications and Limitations of Taxonomy.
