Students must park in the main lot between the school and the stadium. Lots marked "Staff Parking" are reserved for faculty. Students are required to buy a $5 parking tag each school year to hang on the rear-view mirror of your vehicle. You can purchase a tag from our security Officer Jim Jenkins in the assistant principals' office. Proof of insurance, a driver's license, and vehicle tag number are required. You will be given a two-week grace period to purchase your tag. Otherwise, designated student drop-off areas are in the driveway in front of the school or the lane in the main parking lot by the gymnasium entrance. The covered circular drive behind the school is for bus traffic only.
Students who wish to eat breakfast should find a seat in the cafeteria. Otherwise, you will be directed to the main gym. You may not move from one location to another before the 8:15 A.M. Advisory Period bell. If students chose to go to tutorials after breakfast, they may, but will have to stay in that one classroom till the Advisory Period bell.
Students are assigned to one of three lunch periods (A, B, C). The lunch you are assigned depends upon your fourth-period classroom. There will be a small notice posted on the door to fourth-period classes which tell you the lunch assignment. If you have "A" lunch, go directly to the cafeteria; otherwise, your fourth-period teacher will tell you when it's time for lunch.
Yes. Paris High has a student dress code which can be found in the Student Handbook posted on this website. Principal Chris Vaughn will cover items in the Student Handbook during a grade-level orientation the first week of classes, but you are expected to dress properly.
All students will be issued a new class schedule by their first-period teachers on the first day of school. Students will find their names posted in the hallways on a complete list of first-period class assignments. The schedule your first-period teacher issues will be your permanent class schedule which you should follow.
Students are allowed to use cell phones, earbuds, and headphones only in the main gym before Advisory Period and/or in the cafeteria during lunch. Once you exit the gym or cafeteria you will be expected to store these items out of sight. Some teachers may allow you to use your cell phone academic purposes; otherwise, cell phone use at school is not allowed. Breaking this rule will result in your phones and accessories to be taken up.
Quick answer: "You don't". The counselors have done their best to ensure that you have the courses you signed up for last spring. The only exceptions to this rule will be if you are enrolled in a class for which you've already received credit (e.g., you have English II and you've already received credit for English II). Counselors will be busy enrolling new students. Do not go to the counselors' office to request a schedule change. Counselors will be available outside the cafeteria during lunch to answer any concerns you may have. Until then, follow your assigned schedule.
It's your choice. You may request to have a locker by visiting the front office.
Paris High is a closed campus. You are expected to eat lunch only in the cafeteria. You may bring a lunch with you. No one will be allowed to leave the campus without permission from a principal or assistant principal.
