For the 2024-2025 school year, I will be teaching Duel Credit Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, and Statistics.
I started my teaching career as a student teacher in the Spring of 2007 where I did my student teaching at Hill Campus of Arts and Sciences. At the end of my student teaching, I was offered a job the following school year at Hill, teaching 8th grade Algebra. In 2010, I decided to teach at a private school, so I taught one year at Saint Thomas More Catholic School, teaching math to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. In 2011, when Machebeuf High School had an opening, I transferred to the high school where I taught for another 3 years. In 2014, I was approached by the State of Colorado to become a state teacher and teach at one of the juvinile detention centers for the state. In December of 2014, I parted ways with Machebeuf and went to work for the state. I continued to work there until June of 2015 when I moved to Minnesota. Also, during the years of 2010 to 2014, I worked for the Community College of Aurora and Community College of Denver teaching a variety of classes.
I have worked on a number of different committees over the years and I have worked with the State of Colorado to help develop standards for STEM and create unit plans and activities for teachers to be able to follow. I have also have had the pleasure of meeting Harry Wong and his wife at a conference and training session. I have followed and studied his works for years.
I had the pleasure of sitting on the Telepas Review committee in the summer of 2022, January 2024, and June 2024 for TEA. In summer of 2022, I was also a Keynote Speaker at the National Board Conference that was held at Region 10. As of July 2024, I am also a Teach Plus Member as well.
I am also an AP Calculus mentor through College Board. I am assigned 5 teachers throughout the school year that are in different states and in various points of their teaching careers and I make sure that they are getting the help and support that they need in order to be successful. Also, during the summer, I am 1 of about 3500 teachers nationwide that is an AP Reader for AP Calculus AB. My role is to grade 1 to 2 questions from the recent AP exam.
As of December 2023, I am now a National Board Certified Teacher.
I am with my high school sweet heart who is the most awesome person in the world! :-) We have a son and he is living in Arizona currently! I am a mammaw to two amazing grandbabies, Rhett and Cloud, so that is very exciting! I have have 4 fur babies. My youngest is Lily! We rescued her from the Lamar County Animal Shelter! She is a lot of fun and has a playful personality. Felix is my orange and white kitty that loves to be in the middle of everything and keeps everyone awake at night! My youngest is Saber! He graduated from puppy boot camp and now he is living the life as a couch potato! My sidekick...Pi. Unusual name??? Yep! It is!!! He was born on 3/14/15, so given that information...his name had to be Pi.
